Sejarah Perkembangan Organisasi Ikatan Bidan Indonesia di Kabupaten Bondowoso
Tanggal 24 Juni 1951 adalah hari jadi IBI , pengukuhan hri lahirnya IBI tersebut, di dasarkan hasil Konfrensi Bidan pertama yang di selenggarakan di Jakarta tanggal 24 Juni 1951 yang merupakan prakarsa bidan-bidan senior yang berada di Jakarta.
Hasil Konfrensi tersebut, sepakat untuk membentuk Organisasi Ikatan Bidan Indonesia sebagai satu satunya organisasi yang merupakan wadah persatuan & kesatuan Bidan Indonesia.
Selanjutnya membentuk Organisasi tingkat Provinsi dan tingkat Kabupaten, yang di sebut dengan IBI cabang dan IBI ranting.
Walaupun di pusat sudah menginstruksikan untuk membuka cabang, namun di beberapa daerah belum dapat di terapkan karena jumlah bidan sedikit, bahkan belum ada bidan, sehingga tidak memungkinkan untuk membentuk sebuah Organisasi.
Begitu juga keberadaan bidan di Kabupaten Bondowoso. Bidan yang di terjunkan pertama kali di Kota Bondowoso yaitu bidan Silas sebelum tahun 1955 , beliau bertempat tinggal di jalan Mawar. Kemudian di ikuti bidan MiInun (terkenal dengan bu Minun atau bu Hardi), beliau bertempat tinggal di jl. A yani (sekarang RS Kusuma Bhakti). Beliau berdualah yang berkiprah dalam kebidanan di kabupaten Bondowoso. Bu Silas membawahi wilayan Kabupaten Bondowoso, sedangkan Bu MInun di RSU Bondowoso. Kemudian di ikuti oleh bidan Suyoso .sampai dengan tahun 1960, jumlah bidan di Kabupaten Bondowoso yaitu 11 orang
( Bu Silas, Bu Minun, Bu Yoso, Bu Mudarto, Bu Narko, Bu Budi Astutik, Bu Sunarmi, Bu Kirman, Bu Sumarni, Bu Nuryati, Bu Winiarti). Dari 11 orang bidan tersebut, 1 orang Bu Silas sebagai pengawas, sedangkan 1 orang bidan Bu Minun di RSU Bondowoso,sedangkan 8 orang bidan yang lain brgilir setiap minggu atau setiap bulan ke seluruh wilayah Kabupaten Bondowoso. 1 orang bidan memberikan pelayanan 3 atau 4 kecamatan.
Karena pada saat itu belum ada Dinas Kesehatan, maka laporan hasil pelayanan di kirim ke RSU semua menyatu di RSU Bondowoso. Para Bidan mengirim laporan naik sepeda kumbang dari wilayan masing-masing menuju RSU setiap bulannya. Dengan berjalannya waktu dan bertambahnya jumlah bidan pada tahun 1965 mulailah di tempatkan bidan di wilayah Kabupaten Bondowoso.
Tahun 1968 Bidan di Kecamatan mulai terpenuhi. jumlah bidan saat itu sekitar 20 orang , 4 orang dinas di RSU, sedangkan 1 orag menjadi Bidan Pengawas yaitu bidan Sunarmi ( bu Kirman), Beliau menjadi Bidan pengawas sampai dengan tahun 1983 sekaligus menjadi bidan koordinator di Kabupaten Bondowoso.
Tahun 1983 terjadilah perubahan kepemimpinan, maka tahun 1983 Bidan pengawas diganti oleh Bidan Winiati sekaligus…. Bidan Koordinator Bidan di Kabupaten Bondowoso. Beliaulah yang menggagas untuk dibentuknya organisasi IBI di Kabupaten Bondowoso. Pada tahun 1989 mulai di adakan Musyawarah cabang IBI pertama yang bertempat di Pendopo Kabupaten Bondowoso,dengan ketua terpilih yaitu Bidan Nengah Rochati . Sejak berdirinya Organisasi IBI tahun 1989 IBI telah berhasil menyelenggarakan MUSCAB sebanyak 7 kali. Muscab di adakan untukmemilih pimpinan Organisasi dan merencanakan program – program organisasi IBI, Rekapitulasi tempat penyelenggaraan dan terpilihnya ketua IBI adalah sebagai berikut

Gerak dan Langkah Organisasi IBI Kabupaten Bondowoso semakin maju dan berkembang baik. Untuk memudahkan Pembinaan dan Pengelolaan Organisasi , maka sejak tahun 1999 dibentuk pengurus Ranting yang terdiri dari 6 Ranting yaitu :

- Ranting Kota I
- Ranting Kota II
- Ranting Tamanan
- Ranting Wonosari
- Ranting Prajekan
Dengan bertambahnya Institusi Pendidikan Bidan maka jumlah Bidan semakin pesat , walaupun sempat terjadi kekurangan bidan , karena ditutupnya Pendidikan Bidan di Indonesia dari tahun 1975 sampai tahun 1984. Hal ini berpengaruh juga pada jumlah anggota IBI, sehingga pada tahun 1985 dibuka kembali Pendidikan Bidan Swadaya, tahun 1989 dibuka Crass Program Pendidikan Bidan A, yaitu dari SPK/ PR ditambah 1 tahun pendidikan.
Tahun 1990 dengan adanya program dari pemerintah untuk memenuhi Bidan di Desa maka mulailah adanya bidan disetiap Desa yang bertahap , begitu pula di Kab Bondowoso .

Perkembangan Organisasi Ikatan Bidan Indonesia cabang Bndowoso dapat dikatakan semakin maju dan berkembang dengan baik . Semua tatanan Organisasi mengikuti Birokrasi dari Pusat. Organisasi IBI adalah Organisasi lembaga Sosial Masyarakat yang terarah , terpimpin dan terstrutur , yang selalu menunjang dan sejalan dengan program Pemerintah . Dari tahun ketahun IBI berupaya untuk meningkatkan mutu dan melengkapi atribut atribut organisasi profesi yang mengacu pada atribut 2 yang diadakan oleh Pengurus Pusat .
Sebagai wadah konsolidasi dan memudahkan koordinasi , maka sejak tahun 2011 didirikan gedung seketariat IBI Kabupataen Bondowoso yang berada di Desa Nangkaan RT 12 / RW . tepatnya di Jalan Brigpol Sudarlan Graha Nangkaan Estate Kec. Bondowoso – Kabupaten BondowosoTelepon : (0332) 555 3668. Dengan menggunakan dana Swadana dari anggota .Untuk meningkatkan mutu Pelayanan dan meningkatkan Sumber Daya Manusia Bidan . maka dilakukan pelatihan – pelatihan yang berhubungan dengan Kebidanan .
Dengan berkembangnya jumlah anggota dan berkembangnya tehnologi IPTEK dan untuk menyikapi Tantangan Globalisasi, kemajuan dan kebutuhan masyarakat Indonesia yang berkembang , maka IBI selalu meningkatkan sarana dan prsarana yg sesuai dengan kemajuan Zaman .
Sejak dilaksanakan nya Muscab VII dan dilanjutkannya Musyawarah Ranting , maka IBI Kab Bondowoso telah mengembangkan jumlah ranting dari 6 Ranting menjadi 9 ranting yang terdiri dari :
